A striking and thoughtfully built 1969 Plymouth Road Runner, combining authentic Mopar pedigree with modern performance upgrades. This example is a true factory R-code car, supported by its original broadcast sheet, and was professionally restored in a restomod style by Wonder Lake Rod and Customs while part of a private Mopar collection.

The goal of the build was to retain the Road Runner’s classic, mostly stock appearance while significantly improving performance, drivability, and reliability. The result is a car that looks period-correct at a glance yet delivers modern muscle car capability.

The body is extremely straight and completely rust-free, finished in Sunfire Yellow with excellent gloss. All original-style chrome bumpers, trim, and the distinctive 1969 grille present beautifully. Correct Road Runner badging is in place throughout, and the lightly tinted glass is clean and free of defects. The car sits on 15-inch Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson Street S/S tires, giving it a muscular but authentic stance. A scooped hood subtly hints that this Road Runner is far from stock.

Under the hood, the car is powered by a Mopar Performance 500+ HP Wedge crate engine, delivering exceptional performance. The engine is equipped with Holley Sniper EFI, MSD ignition, ceramic-coated headers, and chrome/billet dress-up components, including black finned Mopar Performance valve covers and air cleaner. Cooling is handled by a Be Cool aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. Power is routed through a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission to a Dana 60 rear end, providing strength and highway-friendly gearing.

The suspension and braking systems were fully refreshed during the build, including front disc brakes, and the car is equipped with power steering, making it smooth and confidence-inspiring to drive. The exhaust exits through an H-pipe dual system, delivering an aggressive, unmistakable Mopar sound.

Inside, the tan interior is clean, comfortable, and well executed. Factory bucket seats with lap belts show virtually no wear. The factory-style floor shifter operates smoothly, with EFI controls mounted discreetly nearby. The dash retains a mostly stock appearance and is finished to match the interior, while comfort is enhanced with a Vintage Air A/C and heat system. Additional instrumentation includes an oil pressure gauge and a column-mounted Sun Super Tach II, along with the original 3-spoke steering wheel and Road Runner horn button. The trunk is finished in body color and fitted with a factory-style mat.
