This 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible represents a rare opportunity to acquire a single-family-owned classic, purchased new at Ankeny Motors in Polk County, Iowa, and carefully enjoyed and maintained throughout its life.
Finished in Vintage Burgundy, the car was repainted in the early 1980s in its original factory color. At the same time, the interior was refreshed with new black vinyl upholstery, door panels, carpet, and a white convertible top. The exterior continues to present well today, with minor chips and blemishes consistent with older paint, while the trim and chrome remain highly presentable with minimal wear.
Power comes from the original A-code 289 cubic-inch V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor, paired with the Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission. Recent mechanical updates include a new water pump, carburetor, and exhaust, and the car has been consistently driven and maintained rather than stored long-term.
