Description

An exceptional 1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12, extensively restored and thoughtfully upgraded to deliver significantly enhanced performance, reliability, and drivability while retaining classic E-Type elegance. The restoration and mechanical upgrades are documented with two A4 binders of receipts, reflecting a meticulous, no-expense-spared approach.

The original V12 engine was fully rebuilt by John Rhodes of St. Louis, Missouri, and upgraded with Manley connecting rods, ROSS pistons, and .030” oversize liners. The engine features Stage 2 / ¾ camshafts, with valve reliefs machined into the liners, and is fed by six Weber IDF carburetors with linkage by Bob Beere. Displacement is estimated at 6.2 liters, producing approximately 375–400 horsepower.

Power is delivered through a 5-speed manual transmission, fitted with a recent clutch, throwout bearing, and new hydraulic lines, providing a dramatic improvement in performance and highway usability over the original setup.

The chassis has been upgraded with six adjustable shock absorbers, custom headers, and a four-outlet exhaust system. Braking has been comprehensively refreshed with EBC drilled discs front and rear (UK-sourced), complemented by red-painted front calipers. The differential has been powder coated, and the car rides on custom 17-inch wheels with recent tires.

Cooling and reliability enhancements include an aluminum radiator with electric fans, Evans waterless coolant, new thermostats (reducing operating temperatures by approximately 15°F), electronic ignition, modern high-output alternator, high-torque starter, and a spin-on oil filter conversion replacing the original cartridge system.

The car has been visually refined with paint correction, and clear 3M paint-protection film applied to the hood, fenders, and rocker panels. Finished in striking Auto Union Silver, the exterior presents beautifully.

Comfort and usability upgrades include modern air conditioning converted to R134a, Lloyd custom floor mats, and a custom tonneau cover. Included with the sale are a very rare color-matched hardtop and a soft top in excellent condition.

Recent maintenance includes a fresh oil change (March 2025) and a full carburetor and linkage service (October 2025).
