Description

This 1969 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible has been thoughtfully transformed into a tribute to the ultra-rare 1969 Hurst/Olds convertibles, of which only three were produced. Beginning life as a genuine 442 convertible—as confirmed by the “44” VIN designation—this example underwent a comprehensive frame-off restoration, during which no expense was spared. The seller notes that the underside of the car is finished to the same high standard as the exterior.

Power comes from a 455 cubic-inch OHV V8, upgraded from the original engine and equipped with F cylinder heads, an aluminum intake manifold, and an H/O-style forced-air induction air cleaner assembly. Unlike the original Hurst/Olds, which was automatic-only, this car is paired with a four-speed manual transmission, delivering a more engaging driving experience. Power is sent to an Anti-Spin 12-bolt rear axle fitted with 4.11:1 gearing, according to the seller. Aftermarket air conditioning has also been added for improved comfort.

The exterior was originally finished in Trophy Blue (code 51) but now wears a white finish accented by black-trimmed gold Hurst/Olds stripes, an H/O hood scoop, Hurst/Olds emblems, “H/O 455” callouts, H/O-style mirrors, and a rear spoiler. The convertible top was replaced and is now finished in white, complementing the exterior color scheme.

Inside, the original blue vinyl interior (code 933) has been replaced with a brand-new white vinyl interior, which the seller describes as stunning. The dashboard was fully rebuilt, including the speedometer, and the car is equipped with Rocket Rally-Pac gauges, a center console with added cupholders, and a modern stereo designed to maintain a period-correct appearance. A Custom Sport four-spoke steering wheel is mounted on a tilt steering column.

The car rides on 15-inch Super Stock-style wheels, finished in full chrome with gold-painted centers, wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Power steering and power front disc/rear drum brakes are fitted, making the car easy to drive and enjoy.
