Description
An exceptional and highly documented 1965 Pontiac GTO Convertible, showing single-owner history from new and recently completed following a full frame-off, nut-and-bolt restoration. The restoration was finalized by Wilco Classics in Pflugerville, resulting in a GTO that presents and performs at a level exceeding showroom standards.
This example is fully numbers- and date-code correct, with the body tag, door VIN, and component date codes all present and matching the Protect-O-Plate documentation. The car is sequential number 11,285 of 11,311 convertibles produced for 1965, making it one of the final 1965 GTO convertibles built. Assembly occurred during the fourth week of December 1964, with the engine cast on December 8, 1964, confirming exceptional production accuracy.
Finished in Starlight Black over a black interior upgraded with premium seat covers, the car is powered by the original 389 cubic-inch V8 rated at 335 horsepower, paired with a Hurst-shifted 4-speed manual transmission. The result is an authentic muscle car driving experience with excellent road manners.
While preserving originality, the restoration included tasteful, reversible upgrades to enhance drivability and reliability, including electronic fuel injection, aluminum radiator with electric fans, power steering, QA1 suspension components with adjustable coilovers and sway bar, four-wheel MP disc brakes, new air conditioning, and a MagnaFlow exhaust system.
The car starts easily, runs exceptionally well, and drives with confidence, offering modern comfort while maintaining its factory-correct appearance. Supporting documentation includes the original sales contract, original registration, Protect-O-Plate, and additional historical records.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a correct, late-production, single-owner 1965 GTO convertible that combines concours-level restoration with modern usability.
