Description

This 1955 Mercury Montclair is a beautifully preserved and restored example of mid-1950s American luxury. The previous owners purchased the car in 1989 with 14,401 original miles and immediately began a comprehensive frame-up restoration focused on originality, drivability, and long-term preservation.

The body was refinished in a correct two-tone combination of Alaska White with Glenn Lake Blue Metallic accents, complementing the blue and white interior. During restoration, the engine and transmission were removed, with the transmission rebuilt and the cylinder heads rebuilt with hardened valve seats to support unleaded fuel. The engine was resealed and refinished in factory-correct yellow.

All suspension and brake components were replaced, along with all bushings, bearings, and seals. The bumpers were professionally re-chromed, stainless trim polished to a high luster, and additional trim pieces restored. A Canadian aftermarket Continental kit was installed during the restoration. The undercarriage was detailed in trim black, with the exhaust finished in Eastwood factory gray.

The car was driven approximately 3,000 miles between 1990 and 2014, then stored in a climate-controlled garage. I purchased the car in September 2025, at which time it showed just under 17,800 miles and presented exceptionally well, with a true time-capsule appearance.
